SummaryThe IT System Administrator II provides monitoring, maintenance, and technical support for the City's various Information Technology systems, including server hardware and software applications, and domains used by all City of Brenham departments.Qualified Applicants with at least 5 years experience.This position is NOT a remote position. All duties will be performed ON SITE at Brenham City Hall, or a locally located City of Brenham facility.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following : Maintain, upgrade, coordinate, and troubleshoot Active Directory, user accounts, domain controllers, file servers, and print serversEnsure daily backup jobs occur on all assigned serversCoordinate, implement, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot all server hardware, server operating systems, and installed server-based applicationsResponsible for server security, firewall configuration, Microsoft updates, and other security patchesCoordinate, implement, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot Microsoft Hyper-V virtual server environment, including host servers and shared storageCoordinate, implement, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot Microsoft Exchange, email archiving software, and spam filter softwareCoordinate, implement, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot document management system software and server infrastructureCoordinate, implement, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot Microsoft SQL server software and associated applicationsCoordinate, implement, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot server infrastructure for Incode financial softwareCoordinate, implement, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot web-filtering softwareCoordinate, implement, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot functions of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, including Windows PC updates, software deployment, and client antivirus monitoringMonitor and maintain primary server room facility, including generator, HVAC systems, and UPSsProvide technical assistance to all City employees, especially when technical issues escalate within the I.T. departmentObtain quotes and make informed purchasing suggestions for server infrastructure, related equipment, and software packagesRespond to after-hours and weekend public safety technology related emergencies and needs; andPerform other duties as assigned by I.T. Manager.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and / or ExperienceBachelor's degree in computer science or a related field plus five years of experience preferred, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Knowledge OfMethods, practices, and equipment used in information technology; Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems and applications; server hardware; SQL server; Microsoft Office Suite, TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, FTP, SSL / TLS, PKI, DFS, iSCSI, SAN technologies, data cabling, server virtualization, firewalls, disaster recovery, server backup strategies, network topology diagrams and flow charts, applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing department records,; department policies and procedures; standard office practices and procedures.Skill / Ability ToAbility to think critically and handle equipment and situations that are completely new and unfamiliar; ability to learn new things quickly and adapt to changing circumstances and technologies; determine and solve problems related to designated areas of responsibility; prepare concise and accurate reports; perform basic nd complex mathematical calculations; interpret technical manuals; read and interpret policies and procedures; operate computers; communicate effectively with end-users and other IT professionals, both orally and in writing; explain to group how to effectively assist in a project, and establish and maintain effective working relationships co-workers and employees from other agencies; and operate a computer using standard word processing and spreadsheet software.Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsValid Texas driver's licenseCertification in A , Network , MCITP or MCSE are preferred.[]{style="f"}
