Forklift Operator
Our team in Philadelphia currently has an opening for a Forklift Operator
YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Shipping
- Prior to using equipment, performs operations and safety check and signs off on daily equipment check list certifying everything is in good operating condition.
- Prepare orders for shipment in accordance with the pick ticket and customer requirements.
- Check inventory to verify availability of needed stock.
- Notify the Supervisor of shortages.
- Prepare labels for shipment in accordance with the work order and customer requirements.
- Package and ship in accordance with packaging guidelines and accepted methods/practices.
- Maintain/organize work area for safety and efficiency.
- Stock racks in the warehouse.
- Monitor packaging material supplies and notify the Supervisor when materials get to the restocking point.
- Organize pick tickets/BOLs and double check shipments before loading.
- Assists other employees when needed with loading, lifting, and searching for freight.
- Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with other employees and supervisors.
- Assists customers and drivers when they come to the dock to pick up freight.
Receiving
- Receive and unload incoming material and compare information on packing slips with purchase orders to verify accuracy of shipment.
- Sort, count, package, label, and put away inventory that is received.
- Inspect shipments for damages, loss, or defects, and notify management of findings.
- Responsible for accurately receiving, reporting, and distributing purchased items.
- Stock racks in the warehouse.
- Operate pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and unloading material and equipment.
- Operate stretch-wrap machines.
YOUR PROFILE
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents written in English.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, auditors, and customers and others.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as weights being loaded.
- Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited time exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and physical examination.
- Must be dependable, reliable, and mature enough to handle equipment in a safe and sensible manner.
- Must have the ability to understand and operate computers and RF devices as needed to perform necessary tasks.
- Must have the ability to operate a forklift.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate forklift operators certification.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain DOT HM-126F, IATA, and other required certifications as required by position and law.
- Must be able to operate a non-motorized pallet jack.
- Must have good housekeeping skills.
- Must be able to use a broom to sweep out trailers and clean work areas.
