What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Needs Ministry Coordinator position at Brentwood Baptist Church?
The Special Needs Ministry Coordinator is responsible to the church, under the direction of the Special Needs Minister, for supporting the strategic and day-to-day operations of our Special Needs Ministry that aligns with the mission / vision of Brentwood Baptist Church. Availability includes working in-person 2-3 days a week, including Sunday morning, occasional evening events, and the option to complete some tasks working from home, for a total hour range of 5-25 hours a week.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES may include but are not limited to the following :
- Optional additional hours - teach weekly community and enrichment classes in the Rowen Glenn Center for Embrace Community (adult day program)
- Optional additional hours - supervise volunteers and our ministry participants during Wednesday Night Programming from 5 PM -8 PM.
- Supervise volunteers and our ministry participants during Sunday morning programming from 8am to noon. Support the Special Needs Ministry team to plan and facilitate respite events for ministry participants and their siblings
- Provide information to teachers / ministry leaders on how to manage disruptive behaviors, encourage inclusion, and navigate routine changes for the individuals in Embrace Special Needs Ministry within their age-appropriate ministry
- Be conduit of information from the families within the ministry to the Embrace Special Needs Ministry Team of major life events (weddings, graduations, death in the family, surgeries, hospitalizations, etc.)
- Support Special Needs Ministry Director in providing ministry care to families and volunteers through sending cards, facilitating meal deliveries, etc.
- Support Special Needs Ministry team with planning and facilitating volunteer appreciation events
- Support the Special Needs Ministry team with planning and executing BBC's annual Vacation Bible School event(s)
- Support Special Needs Ministry Director with providing resources and support to Embrace Ministry families at Brentwood Baptist Church Campuses throughout Middle Tennessee
- Helps provide and maintain a Christ-centered, gospel-focused environment in which each individual impacted by disability may grow physically, emotionally, mentally, socially, and spiritually
