Brentwood Behavioral Healthcare is seeking a dynamic and talented Full-time Assessment & Referral/IntakeCounselor for varied shifts (WEEKNIGHTS: Monday-Friday (10p-6a) /WEEKENDS: Friday, Saturday, & Sunday (7pm-7am))
The Assessment Counselor is to assess the need of walk-in and phone callers and ensure their referral to the services or resources to best address those needs.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Answers phone promptly, greets callers courteously, showing genuine concern.
- Identifies needs of callers, scheduling a face to face clinical assessment when indicated.
- Facilitates appropriately callers’ access to optimal level of care within the Brentwood system.
- Refer callers who are not appropriate for Brentwood’s services to other optimal services provider as necessary, effectively matching callers’ needs and resources with available services.
- Bonds and identifies problems thoroughly within a short period of time.
- Is consistently successful in scheduling face-to-face assessments.
- Provides a comfortable, caring approach to client.
- Conducts thorough and concise assessments within 45 minutes; completes admission within 1 ½ to 2 hours
- Makes sound final dispositions with clients and seeks advice from other clinical staff as indicated.
- Obtains and documents admission diagnosis from attending doctor or designee in a timely manner.
- Documentation review shows that forms, notes, and other applicable written information have been completed promptly and accurately.
- Patient admissions, transfers, and unusual occurrences are promptly, clearly, and correctly communicated to all necessary personnel.

Preferred: A Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work with a license to practice in Mississippi.
Minimum: A Master's degree in a behavioral science field such as Psychology or Social Work, Counseling or Marriage and Family Therapy. Master's degrees in Divinity or Education are acceptable only if the degree program emphasizes counseling.
