What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher - Instructional Support Provider position at Brentwood Union School District (Northern California)?
Primary Function: Plan and provide instruction, supervise and coordinate the educational program, in collaboration with regular education staff, for pupils enrolled in the Instructional Support Program.
Performance Responsibilities
* Collaborate and participate with regular classroom teachers to plan, provide instruction and assess progress for identified students.
* Consult with school personnel, parents and various community agencies for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes through planning core curriculum, class schedules, instructional accommodations and modifications and developing solutions.
* Serve as a case manager and coordinate special education services with the regular school program for instructional support program pupils.
* Conduct assessment, both criterion referenced and standardized, for identification of special education eligibility.
* Develop Individualized Education Programs and provide instruction and services for pupils enrolled in the Instructional Support Program in accordance with their IEPs.
* Instruct students for the purpose of improving their success in academic, interpersonal and daily living skills through specified Individualized Education Programs (IEP) goals.
* Monitor pupil academic and behavioral progress as related to the IEP.
* Prepare teaching materials and reports (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and providing documentation of teacher and student progress.
* Participate in the review and revision of individualized education programs of pupils (e.g. annuals, triennials, transitions).
* Participate in student study team meetings, parent conferences, and site and district meetings for the purpose of exchange of information.
* Direct instructional assistants, volunteers and/or students.
* Supervise student activities (e.g. classroom, ground, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
* Develop and implement plans to reinforce acceptable pupil behavior and social skills.
* Provide information, materials, and assistance to pupils with exceptional needs, their parents and school staff.
* Maintain required records and complete reports for program in a timely manner and/or legally required time period
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Desirable Qualifications:
Knowledge of teaching methods and instructional strategies appropriate to a variety of disabilities, academic curriculum standards and benchmarks, relevant education code as applicable to special education and Section 504, collaboration and co-teaching skills, assessment instruments and their applications
Abilities:
Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with staff, students, parents and community, communicate effectively with individuals from varied educational and cultural backgrounds, both orally and in writing, possess skills to motivate students, direct support personnel and evaluate performance.
ADA Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift objects weighing approximately 10 lbs. (i.e. paperwork, files), push, pull drag, and grasp objects, talk/hear conversations, possess near/far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field of vision.
Experience:
Previous related teaching experience desired
Education/Credential:
Appropriate valid CA special education credential. Criminal Justice Clearance and valid CA driver's license.
