The Industrial Automation Engineer is responsible for human and machine interactions on the production floor integrating with various support systems, primarily ERP. The role is crucial in ensuring that production processes are stable, reliable, and capable of meeting global demands. Employee may perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
Essential Responsibilities
- System Design and Implementation: collaborate on the design and implementation of ERP MES functionality to enhance manufacturing intelligence, operational efficiency, and process quality.
- Integration: ensure seamless integration between shop floor systems and other control systems across multiple manufacturing sites.
- Data Management: develop strategies for acquisition, analysis, and visualization to improve real-time decision making and process optimization.
- Troubleshooting and Support: provide on-site and remote support to global operations teams while continuously seeking new opportunities for improvement of systems.
- Compliance and Standards: ensure all SCADA systems comply with internal and external standards and cybersecurity protocols.
- Team Collaboration: work closely with manufacturing, scheduling, procurement, engineering, and IT to align technology solutions with business goals.
- Training and Development: train and mentor junior engineers and technicians ensuring best practices are followed.
The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Controls, Industrial, etc.), or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in SCADA engineering role with focus on manufacturing environments.
- Proven experience with MES implementations and knowledge of relevant technologies.
- Strong understanding of PLC programming, data acquisition, and industrial network architecture.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills, which the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
