GENERAL DESCRIPTION :
Supervise Laundry and Housekeeping staff. Maintain and oversee clean environment for members and staff. Perform routine cleaning of resident's rooms, halls, offices, and other assigned areas. Follow policies and procedures of department with regard to duties. Reports to Director of Foundation and Marketing.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Supervise daily Housekeeping operations at Wellness Center.
2. Schedules all work hours for Housekeeping staff.
3. Performs employee evaluations in a timely manner for staff.
4. Takes inventory and orders housekeeping supplies.
5. Coordinate schedules for housekeeping and events with Event Coordinator.
6. Cleans assigned areas.
7. Performs daily tasks in accordance with infection control and universal precaution policies and procedure.
8. Respects confidentiality and membership and rentals.
9. Follows dress code according to department policies.
10. Respects and shows kindness to all.
11. Assures that floors are free of hazardous debris.
12. Practices good body mechanics in regards to lifting.
13. Protects and maintains all work areas in accordance with facility safety policies.
14. Perform tasks such as wash over-the-bed lights, pictures and objects on walls, wall washing, baseboards, etc. as assigned.
15. Work within budget levels for staff hours and laundry / housekeeping supplies.
16. Trains new employees.
17. Attends and participates in staff meetings as scheduled.
18. Promotes good attitude and outstanding customer service.
19. Participates in community and in-house events related to the interests of Brethren Care Village residents and family members.
20. Refers members / families to Director if unable to resolve any resident / family concerns.
21. Develops and maintains a good rapport with other departments to ensure that a team effort is achieved.
22. Upholds residents' rights and Hipaa.
23. Represents Brethren Care Village in various social events off and on campus.
24. Complies with Brethren Care Village dress code.
25. Perform other duties as requested.

1. Must have initiative and judgment to do assigned tasks.
2. Must be able to organize work.
3. Must be able to perform repetitive tasks on a continuous basis.
4. Must have abilities to evaluate work and set priorities.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :
1. Applicant should be at least 18 years of age.
2. High School diploma or equivalent
3. Maintain First Aide certification and any other required certifications required by the Ohio Department of Health and Brethren Care Village.
EQUIPMENT OPERATION :
1. Brooms, mops, and vacuum cleaners.
2. On occasion, will use floor buffer.
3. Know how to operate all laundry equipment.
RELATIONS WITH OTHERS :
1. Must maintain cordial relations with residents, families, visitors and others.
2. Must be able to communicate clearly and maintain cooperative spirit with staff.
3. Works effectively with all departments.
SPECIFICATIONS - MENTAL / PHYSICAL :
1. Stands and walks throughout the day on hard surfaces.
2. Turns, bends, kneels, and pushes housekeeping cart many times daily.
3. Pushes beds weighing up to 300 lbs on a daily basis.
4. Climbs stepladder on a daily basis.
5. Lifts 50-75 lbs. on a daily basis.
6. Works indoors in a lighted, ventilated, and heated building.
7. Tolerates odors coming from residents and soiled linen on a daily basis.
8. Able to deal with disgruntled residents and direct them to Housing Director if unable to resolve the issue.
LEARNING PERIOD REQUIRED :
1. Ninety (90) day probationary period.
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
Indoors - Works in well lighted and ventilated areas. Subject to possible falls, odors, and injuries from equipment. May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, chemicals, and various viruses, including Hepatitis B and AIDS.
Outdoors - Possible exposure to weather extremes.
