Life Enrichment Assistant
Brethren Hillcrest Homes (Hillcrest) is a not-for-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community located on 40 acres in La Verne, California providing retirement opportunities to seniors that include residential, assisted living, skilled nursing, and dementia care to approximately 400 residents. DESCRIPTION: 16 to 29 hour a week part-time position assisting the Life Enrichment Coordinator in developing, implementing, and evaluating life enrichment and wellness-related activities, games, programs, series, events, and other offerings designed to meet the wellness needs of Hillcrest residents in assisted and residential living areas. Position works Saturday, some Friday evenings and a variable schedule during the week. Assists with distributing wellness and life enrichment program information. Helps coordinate Birthday/Anniversary Lunch, Wanderers trips, Out-to-Lunch Bunch, and a variety of Assisted Living programs. Engages with residents individually and in groups, offering assistance and leading games and activities, according to each resident's abilities, needs, and preferences. Provides the opportunity for each resident to attend and/or participate in an activity of choice on a daily basis. Arranges/moves tables and chairs as required for a variety of life enrichment programs and events; coordinates use of and/or manages necessary A/V equipment; maintains and cleans activity-related supplies and equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS: Outgoing, upbeat, and service-oriented personality along with good communication skills. High school diploma or equivalency. One year (1) experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating wellness and life enrichment programs or group activities in an eldercare setting. Completion of activities program and/or wellness-related certification desired. Understanding of illness and handicap, especially disabling conditions that require long term care. Proficient with computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel, email, internet, etc. First-Aid certification required. Criminal background screening (fingerprinting through the Department of Justice and FBI) completed and free of criminal convictions. Moderate physical demands. $18.54 to $19.57 per hour depending on experience.
