Brethren Village Retirement Community, in Lititz, PA, is seeking a proactive Personal Care Administrator for our Personal Care and Memory Support units. This is a terrific opportunity for a qualified Nurse Supervisor, Assistant Personal Care Administrator, or current Administrator who possesses strong leadership and management skills, and a process-improvement orientation.
The Personal Care Administrator will lead and manage the Personal Care department, including: overseeing care and services for Residents; responding to inquiries from Residents' family members and representatives; hiring, developing, mentoring, and supervising staff; developing and managing budgets; ensuring adherence to relevant state and federal regulations; fostering a culture of excellence within all Personal Care areas.
The Personal Care Administrator will work collaboratively with the Assistant Administrator, the Memory Support Unit Coordinator, and RN Care Coordinators. The Administrator reports to the Vice President of Health Services, and serves as a member of the organization's "Management Excellence Team", helping to develop and implement the organization's strategic plans.
The Personal Care Administrator will:
- foster the highest standards of care and service
- oversee proper case management, working with RN's; ensure adherence to care plans
- ensure proper social services and resources are available to Residents and their family members
- oversee appropriate social and recreational activities for Residents, including Residents with cognitive impairment
- foster caring and professional relations between staff, Residents, and Residents' family members
- research and implement best-practices related to care and service
- develop or identify, implement, and evaluate training and on-going professional development programs for Personal Care Aides and nurses
- interview, hire, orient, develop, mentor, coach, and supervise Personal Care Aides, LPN's, and RN's, using a collaborative and supportive approach
- work with Human Resources to ensure proper staffing levels; proactively implement practices to involve and aid retention of staff
- promote safe work practices
- help evaluate Residents for admission; assist Residents and their family members through transitions to higher levels of care
- ensure year-round "survey readiness" and compliance with all relevant regulations; collect data, prepare reports, and complete audits as needed
- participate on or lead committees as requested
The Personal Care Administrator will perform all duties in strict adherence to applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including Department of Health and Human Services and HIPAA regulations; in accordance with sound and effective leadership practices; and with the highest degree of integrity consistent with Brethren Village’s values.

A valid PA Personal Care Administrator's Certificate is required, along with a record of successfully:
- hiring and developing staff;
- engaging with and providing effective leadership for staff;
- creating and/or overseeing effective training programs to foster on-going development of staff;
- overseeing and ensuring exceptional care and service for older adult Residents;
- communicating professionally with Residents' family members and representatives;
- effectively following-up as issues arise, and initiating and implementing process improvements;
- ensuring adherence to applicable state and federal regulations for Personal Care facilities, as well as health and safety best-practices;
- promoting the highest-quality care and service, and professionalism among staff.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time, 40 hours per week on-site, plus additional hours as needed to fulfill responsibilities.
- Evening, night, weekend, and holiday work will be required on an occasional basis, as we are a 24/7 facility.
- The Administrator will be expected to report to work during inclement weather when safely able to do so, and to be available by phone as needed.
- Valid Pennsylvania Personal Care Home Administrator’s Certification
- A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Health Care Administration, or a related field, or a Nursing (LPN, RN) license
- At least 8 years of relevant management experience in an Assisted Living or Personal Care facility; prior experience managing a department(s) and budget
- Thorough understanding of Health and Human Services and HIPAA regulations pertaining to Personal Care facilities
- Prior leadership and supervisory experience; experience hiring, training, coaching, engaging, and developing staff; proven ability to collaborate with staff to meet objectives
- A record of implementing enhancements to processes and procedures; ability to effectively develop and implement plans to achieve department and organizational goals; ability to work with others to achieve goals
- Excellent organization skills; the ability to efficiently coordinate own work and the work of others
- Comfort with public speaking (facilitating meetings and training sessions); effective communication abilities
- Solid computer skills: ability to access web sites and efficiently use web-based applications, databases, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Dependability /ability to meet attendance standards; ability and willingness to work evenings, nights, and weekends when needed; willingness to serve on-call
- The ability to quickly and safely assist Residents during emergency evacuations and other emergency situations; the ability to direct the activities of others, including during urgent or emergency situations
- The ability to form positive and supportive relationships with Residents, their family members, and staff, and to consistently promote exceptional care and service to others
