SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Supervises and coordinates activities of clerical workers under limited supervision. The assistant supervisor provides lead direction to departmental staff members. This direction includes mentoring, training, assigning, and reviewing work. The assistant supervisor also actively participates in meetings and conferences. This includes preparation of meeting agendas and documentation, conducting meetings, and representing the clerk’s office in offsite meetings and conferences.

· Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
· Prioritizes, plans, and monitors work activities.
· Processing departmental timesheets.
· Assist in preparing performance evaluations.
· Prepares and performs presentations.
· Issues written and oral instructions.
· Assigns duties and examines work for accuracy, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
· Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
· Maintains harmony among workers and reports problems to supervisor or manager for resolution.
· Reviews various error reports and addresses errors and training needs with applicable staff.
· Addresses complaints made from other agencies, departments, or coworkers.
· Assists subordinates in performing duties.
· Ensures work responsibilities are covered in the absence of the Court Supervisor.
· Carries out minor supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

· Develops subordinates’ skills and encourages growth, including planning or otherwise providing training and development opportunities.
· Assists in updating case maintenance event and financial tables as needed.
· Assists in coordinating judicial reassignments as needed.
· Assists in preparing or verifying the accuracy of statistical reports relative to departmental duties.
· Assists in coordinating and conducting meetings with subject matter relative to the department, including preparing agendas, documentation, and conducting meetings.
· Represents the clerk of court in offsite meetings and conferences, including actively participating in these events.
· Takes part in special workgroups dealing with legislative changes, including but not limited to new statistical reporting and law changes.
· Assists in problem solving for staff with issues that arise from software used to complete daily job functions.
· Performs other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES:

· Knowledge of clerk policies and procedures.
· Considerable knowledge of court procedures, forms, and legal terminology.
· Considerable knowledge of office supervision, terminology, procedures, and equipment.

· Ability to train and supervise clerks in office procedures, equipment use, and organizational terminology.
