Job Description
Advanced clerical work, which involves moderately complex work methods in preparing and maintaining inmate files and records received from the courts and various other agencies. Work is performed according to established guidelines under general supervision and/or direction.
Position Duties
The tasks below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Work is performed in an office environment, but employees may have contact with inmates during the course of normal work.
Initial Training schedule will be on nights (3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.), after completion of training, the shift will be between the hours of 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., must be flexible to extend hours to accommodate the court system. Weekend/Holiday schedule: 5:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Job Description

Position Duties
The tasks below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
- Prepare files and verifies inmate court paperwork and documentation.
- Cross-references inmate information for outstanding warrants and gang related affiliations.
- Review the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) and cross reference information with arrests affidavits. Submit requests for corrections as needed.
- Ability to read and understand all teletype information from other agencies.
- Register, record and log Bonding Agents.
- Logs and sends bonds to the Clerk of Courts.
- Prepares the court lists, dockets, and inmate files under time constraints.
- Determine if time sensitive actions are required for legal processing.
- Verifies documents received ensuring files are correct with written police reports and keeps all files updated.
- Maintains various logs and statistical reports.
- Updates information into inmate files including, but not limited to: court minutes, holds, warrants, no contact information, correspondences, programs and sentences. Make corrections as needed.
- Identifies and notifies the Classification Unit of inmates with "high risk" status.
- Review all court documentation to determine if an inmate meets all standards for release. Prepare and approve releases when required.
- Updates inmate information databases. Prepares letters of incarceration and other correspondence.
- Makes transportation arrangements in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies for prison inmates to return to facilities or programs, as required.
- Corresponds via telephone, email or mail with both internal departments and external agencies concerning case files of inmates.
- Receives and responds to requests related to records during incarceration.
- Regular, dependable and punctual attendance is an essential function of this job.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one (1) year clerical experience or equivalent formal training or special education with emphasis in clerical/secretarial skills.
- Must pass BCSO typing test with a minimum score of 35 wpm
