What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crew Supervisor - Animal Services (Part-Time) position at Brevard County Sheriff's Office?
The purpose of the class is to supervise low level offenders performing work at the Brevard County Sheriff's Office Jail South Animal Care Shelter. The class is responsible for transporting Female inmates, assigning and supervising work, maintaining security, and preparing forms and reports. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Successful completion of a criminal background investigation including polygraph. Requires drug test prior to assuming position and if employed, will be subject to post-accident, and/or random and reasonable suspicion drug tests while employed.

- Transports low level offenders/inmates from/to the Jail complex.
- Receives work assignments; prepares crew assignment sheets and assigns work.
- Supervises and controls inmate workers; monitors for difficulties and intervenes if necessary.
- Cleans and disinfects cages, pens and yards in the Animal Care Center.
- Maintains security at all times; assures inmates are following rules and procedures; assures all inmates are accounted for and contained in appropriate area.
- Operates equipment such as power sprayer.
- Prepares forms, logs, and reports documenting crew activities.
- Attends meeting to exchange information; attends in-service training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Regular, dependable and punctual attendance is an essential function of this job.
- Requires high school diploma or GED.
- Requires a Florida Driver's License, (must maintain for duration of employment).
- Requires knowledge of animal care or animal handling experience/supervisor experience.
- This position requires successful completion of the Sheriff's office pre-employment medical certification.
- This is a Part Time position; Sunday-Thursday, 7:00am - 12:00 pm.
- Flexibility in days is required to meet departmental needs.
- In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or manmade disaster that may threaten the area the employee will be expected to work.
