Job Description
The purpose of the class is to provide assistance and information to the general public via telephone and in person, and to support other personnel as needed for assigned area of responsibility. The class is responsible for answering telephone, assisting visitors and Deputies, fingerprinting, record keeping, data entry, reports, transcribing tapes and processing cases closed by an arrest. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed with limited decision making responsibility.
Position Duties
The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Work is performed in an office environment. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
Employees may have contact with inmates during the normal course of the workday.
Successful completion of a criminal background investigation including polygraph, reference/employment/neighborhood checks, submit to screening for illegal drug use prior to assuming position and will be subject to return to duty, post-accident and/or random and reasonable suspicion drug tests while employed with BCSO.

- Monitors, and responds to telephone and in person requests made by general public and agency members.
- Fingerprints general public for employment purposes and/or licensing requirements by the State of Florida.
- Basic financial transactions required by agency policy/procedures, Florida Statues, or other criminal justice system needs.
- Receives and distributes civil/criminal subpoenas that notice agency personnel for trial or deposition.
- Completes reports/requests for non-emergency assistance such as Vacation Watch, House Check requests and found property.
- Performs routine office tasks such as receiving/distribution of department mail, preparing routine reports, typing, filing, faxing, scanning and photocopying.
- Regular, dependable and punctual attendance is an essential function of this job.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 6 months face to face customer service and administrative experience.
- Strong communication skills, ability to use sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Corrections or a closely related field preferred.
