What are the responsibilities and job description for the Media Production Specialist position at Brevard County Sheriff's Office?
This class performs technical work involving content creation for all Brevard County Sheriff's Office social medial, streaming platforms, agency website, intranet, promotional materials, and special events. Duties include planning, editing, filming, and managing digital sites. This class works under the general supervision of the Media Production Unit Supervisor.The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional related tasks as necessary.
Advanced skills in photo/video editing and graphic design software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, InDesign), Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Canva, or similar tools.
Advanced skills in the use of MacOS, iPhone, iPad, and mirrorless interchangeable lens camera operation.,
Must have a valid Florida Driver's License and maintained for duration of employment.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform lifting and setting up event materials.
SCHEDULE: 40-hour work week, flexible schedule based on operational needs, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and short-notice call-ins.
Work is performed both indoors (office /studio) and outdoors in all weather conditions, with travel required for media productions and BCSO special events.
During emergencies (e.g., hurricanes, major storms, natural/manmade disasters), this position may be required to work at sandbag locations or storm shelters to support agency needs.
May involve limited contact with inmates.
Successful completion of a criminal background investigation including polygraph, pre-employment medical physical, reference/employment/neighborhood checks. submit to screening for illegal drug use prior to assuming position and will be subject to return to duty, post-accident and/or random and reasonable suspicion drug tests while employed with BCSO.

- Plan, film, and edit video productions, including promotional content, show opens, public service announcements, and special projects for social media (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) and streaming platforms.
- Creates engaging digital media, graphics, publications, flyers, advertisements, and promotional materials tailored for online platforms, ensuring alignment with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office and audience engagement goals.
- Operates and maintains media production equipment, including video cameras, tripods, microphones, lighting kits, teleprompters, audio mixers, and editing systems, for both studio and field operations.
- Archives and manages digital media, organizing studio and field recordings into a storage system for easy access and retrieval.
- Coordinates special projects as assigned, ensuring timely delivery of content that meets agency standards.
- Provides technical and logistical support for BCSO special events, such as Swear-in Ceremonies, Award Ceremonies, Funerals, Animal Adoption Events, Holiday Parades, Haunted Jail Trail, Christmas Extravaganza, Shop with a Cop, and Christmas Light Festival.
- Coordinates special projects as assigned.
