GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of the class is to perform accounting functions and financial management reporting in conformance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Perform complex or specialized accounting work at the supervisory or technical lead level.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Assists in preparation of various financial functions and systems including disbursements, distributions, budget development and analysis, revenue accounting, and preparation of statistical and/or fiscal reports.
- Assists in year-end close out and preparation of annual financial statements and external year end audit.
- Reconciles capital expenditures, bank and investment accounts, and general ledger balances to include cash and fixed assets.
- Prepares and analyzes financial reports to identify potential problems and significant trends to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, rules, accounting standards (GAAP & GASB) and/or policies.
- Technical lead of accounting functions to include accounts payable and tourist tax audits.
- Review accounting entries and adjustments.
- Exercises considerable initiative and independent judgment in planning and making recommendations for implementations or revisions of accounting procedures, and in the preparation of statements and reports.
- Monitor and evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of current accounting and budgetary systems and controls while recommending changes as needed.
- Prepare complex analyses, and report on accounting problems or projects.
- Prepare accounting and audit records, statements, and reports.
- Prepare and complete special projects for the Manager of Financial Services and the Chief Financial Officer as requested.
Education & Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting or finance and 2 years of governmental accounting experience.
OR
· A comparable amount of training, education or experience can be substituted for minimum qualifications.
