Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time

$17.21 to $18.93 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. South Area/Melbourne. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Performs experienced service work operating light automotive vehicles or equipment and performing routine automotive service and maintenance for the Public Works Department.

REQUIREMENTS: Six (6) months of experience operating and maintaining light automotive vehicles and/or public works equipment used to maintain roads, drainage, sidewalks, and landscaping. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment,a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver's licenseand maintain said license during the term of employment. This is heavy physical work that involves exposure to dirt, dust, noise, moving machinery, working in and around traffic, and extreme weather conditions. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.

  5. The employee must have:
    • Color Perception; Good distant vision; Good hearing; Good near vision; Good speech; Other; Use of both eyes
  6. Other necessary physical activities/traits
    • Must be able to lift sandbags weighing 75 pounds and concrete bags weighing 95 pounds.
