Position Summary
Responsible for procurement and inventory management in support of operational goals and in conformance with delivery date commitments. Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives while supporting production needs. Minimize costs through by staying aware of market conditions and negotiating prices for materials and inbound freight. Support sales and engineering in customer costing and onboarding of suppliers and new materials
Essential Responsibilities (other duties as assigned)
- Participate in strategic planning and establish overall supply chain objectives with consideration given to corporate goals and objectives as well as top level strategic goals.
- Negotiation and procurement of materials, supplies, equipment and services for the operation of the Company.
- Confer with requesting parties when specific sources are requested.
- Investigate and solve problems in the supply chain.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing and Engineering on matters pertaining to schedules, production, methods, materials and designs to resolve day-to-day production problems.
- Monitor orders in process to keep informed of manufacturing status or schedule changes and, when needed, initiate the necessary steps to adjust supply chain schedules.
- Maintain optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs and premium transportation charges.
- Plan, organize, implement and monitor supply chain controls, systems and procedures.
- Prepare required reports as to performance metrics, progress of key initiatives, departmental budget forecasts, improvement recommendations, etc. that have to do with the function.
- Establish and maintain purchasing practices and policies to ensure honest, fair and ethical relationships with our vendors. Keep informed on legal matters which affect purchasing policies.
- Keep abreast of new developments and innovations in materials and markets.
- Responsible for continuing programs of exploration for new materials, suppliers and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, prices, continuity and delivery.
- Implement continuous improvement programs, e.g. communications, training, work simplification, cost reduction, etc.
- Maintain conformity with work rules and regulations, administer established disciplinary measures when warranted.
- Hold vendors accountable for defective product by tracking and resolving non-conformances.
- Travel to trade shows and vendors occasionally.
- Responsible for executing an accurate physical inventory quarterly.
