What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Financial Reporting Accountant position at Brewer Morris?
Our client, an advancing technology subsidiary of a growing and stable insurance organization is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support financial reporting, SEC filings and the month-end close process. The ideal candidate has experience in external reporting, technical accounting, and internal controls within a public company environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Prepare SEC filings, financial statement disclosures, and XBRL tagging, ensuring GAAP, SEC, and SOX compliance
- Support audits, research technical accounting issues, and collaborate across FP&A, tax, and treasury teams
- Manage journal entries, reconciliations, intercompany eliminations, and ensure compliance with ASC 606
- Assist in consolidated financial statements, variance analysis, and process improvements
What They're Looking Fo
- Bachelor’s in Accounting; CPA or CPA candidate (a plus)
- 3–6 years of relevant experience, including 1-2 years at a senior level)
- Public accounting and/or a public company experience (insurance, technology is a plus)
- Strong GAAP, SEC, and SOX knowledge with advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables)
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Experience with Great Plains Dynamics and Management Reporter a plus
