The Brewer department employs a suite of sophisticated equipment, including body-worn cameras for transparency, cellular forensic software, a TruNarc illegal substance testing device, night vision, a UTV, patrol bicycles, and a narcotics and tracking K9.

Community policing is at the heart of the Brewer Police Department’s approach. The Department hosts a youth academy and participates in Camp Postcard and Coffee with a Cop Events. WAGES

$27.46 to $36.63; see attached for wage scale

LATERAL TRANSFERS:

MCJA full-time certified officers are calculated based on completed years of full-time service post-full-time certification. Lateral Transfers with at least 2 years of completed full-time service receive 2 weeks’ vacation (80 hrs.) at the time of hire.

SCHEDULE:

There are four (4) ten-hour (10) weekly shifts: 4 on, 3 off. Most officers have weekends off for half the year.

EARNED TIME OFF:

· Twelve (12) floating holidays (120 hrs.)

· Up to four (4) sick bonus days per year (40 hrs.); sick bonus days are earned every three months if sick leave is not used

· There are up to twelve (12) sick leave days per year, one earned each month. Sick leave is utilized for personal illness.

· Up to three (3) family sick leave days per year for the care of the employee’s immediate family

· Compensatory Time Off

Vacation:

· One (1) weeks’ vacation (40 hrs.) upon completion of one (1) year of continuous employment.

· Two (2) weeks’ vacation (80 hrs.) upon completion of two (2) years of continuous employment.

· Lateral Transfers can receive up to 80 hrs. of vacation upon hire.

· Three (3) weeks’ vacation (120 hrs.) upon completion of seven (7) years of continuous employment.

· Four (4) weeks’ vacation (160 hrs.) upon completion of fifteen (15) years of continuous employment.

RETIREMENT:

MPERS PLD Special Plan 3C: Twenty-five years (25), 2/3 retirement with COLA, no age attainment

HEALTH CARE:

PPO 500 with HRA, Anthem

HRA (Health Reimbursement Account) annual funding:

Single: $1,125

Family: $2,250

Opt-Out Stipend: $500

Option for Dental Coverage and Vision Coverage

WAGE SCALE FOR 2024:

Step A: New Hire - $30.67

Step B: MCJA Graduation - $31.61

Step C: Completion of Probation - $32.55

Step D: Two Years - $33.53

Step E: Four Years - $34.54

Step F: Six Years - $35.20

Step G: Eight Years - $35.94

Step H: Ten Years - $36.63
