What We’re Looking For:
- Diploma in Engineering Technology (or equivalent)
- Solid understanding of chemical and/or mechanical testing of metals
- Familiarity with pipe NDE inspection methods, their applications, and limitations
- Strong attention to detail and work ethic

Position Overview:
Reporting to the Manager of Quality and R&D, this position involves the sampling and destructive testing of pipe products manufactured using the Thermal Pipe Expansion (TPE) process. The role includes performing visual inspections, chemical and mechanical testing, documentation, and ensuring product traceability. Additionally, there is a future opportunity for cross-training with the Bri-Steel Distribution yard, giving you the chance to further expand your skills. Key Responsibilities:
- Visual inspection of raw materials and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards
- Sampling and destructive testing of pipe products, including chemical analysis and mechanical testing
- Assist with non-destructive testing processes such as Hydrotesting, Eddy Current Testing (ET), and Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- Apply markings to finished products for identification and traceability
- Maintain accurate production data and compile it into Mill Test Reports (MTRs)
- Assist in the installation and setup of new testing equipment to improve operational efficiency
- Contribute to the development and refinement of product testing procedures
- Foster a safe and positive workplace environment that prioritizes both employee well-being and product excellence
Education & Certification Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Metallurgical, Materials, Chemical, Mechanical, or Quality Engineering Technology Diploma (or equivalent experience)
Preferred Experience:
- Experience working in a chemical or mechanical testing laboratory
- Hands-on experience with carbon steels and/or visual inspection of pipes
- Familiarity with QA documentation and maintaining accurate records
