Brice Construction & Design, Inc. Brice performs large heavy civil construction operations to include large scale civil projects, drainage, repair of earthen dams and levees, roadways, bridges, airfields, parks, ranges, and stormwater management, water supply, wastewater collection, and on-site wastewater treatment systems for federal, states, and local entities.
What can you expect?
As the Survey Rodman, you will work in Houston, TX and report to field project locations in and around the Houston-Metro area. You support survey crews by holding and reading survey rods, helping set up equipment, and providing data collection in the field. Your role as the Survey Rodman is essential to ensure accurate measurements are taken and recorded during land surveys.
How will you do it?
- Assist with setting up and maintaining survey equipment, including base stations, total stations, backsights, rovers, levels, and other measuring devices.
- Hold and position survey rod at designated points to measure distances and elevations.
- Use measurement tools to assist in calculating the location and elevation of land features.
- Carry and place stakes, flags, or other markers to indicate survey points and other survey equipment needed.
- Keep track of readings and measurements, ensuring data accuracy.
- Assist with setup, transport, and overall workflow on the field with surveyors and technicians.
- Maintain survey equipment and keep vehicles clean to ensure proper function and accuracy.
- Help clear brush, debris, or obstacles to ensure a smooth survey process.
- Perform tasks in various outdoor environments, potentially in challenging weather or terrain.
- Travel for work-related purposes for extended periods of time, as needed.
- Work as a “team player” with co-workers in a respectful and supportive manner.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Perform other duties as directed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisor responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of surveying principles and equipment.
- Knowledge of OSHA Construction Industry Safety Regulations.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate data collection.
- Ability to safely utilize tools and equipment in the performance of duties.

Who is Brice Construction & Design LLC looking for?
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma, or equivalent required.
- One (1) year previous experience on a survey crew working in Civil Construction preferred.
- Valid state driver’s license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Brice Construction & Design’s Driving Policy.
- Ability to pass drug, driving, and background screening.
