We are seeking a Knowledge & Research Analyst to join our team, with the option to work in a hybrid capacity from any of our offices or fully remote for the right candidate.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Knowledge & Research Analyst supports attorneys and staff by providing high-quality legal and business research, delivering timely insights that inform case strategy, business development, and client service. This role combines deep research expertise with a strong service orientation, helping to manage knowledge resources and promote efficient use of the firm’s information tools. The ideal candidate is curious, collaborative, and detail-oriented, with a passion for connecting people to the information they need. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: “Essential functions” are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation made by the employer.
- Conduct comprehensive legal, regulatory, legislative, business, public records, and competitive intelligence research, delivering in-depth analysis using both online and print resources in a thorough, creative, and cost-effective manner.
- Evaluate a wide range of information sources for reliability, relevance, currency, and cost-efficiency to identify the most appropriate tools for each research assignment.
- Monitor key developments by creating and maintaining alerts for litigation, news, and matter-specific topics.
- Retrieve court filings and other legal documents, including complaints and case materials, from appropriate sources.
- Curate and distribute daily news digests tailored to key clients, industries, and practice areas.
- Support attorneys and staff with training and guidance on the effective use of legal research tools and resources.
- Develop user guides and orientation materials to facilitate awareness and usage of research services and platforms.
- Promote library services, tools, and new resources through a variety of channels, including email communications, intranet content, liaison programs, and in-person engagement.
- Maintain and update the library’s intranet presence to ensure easy access to research tools, updates, and internal resources.
- Manage incoming print materials and library mail, oversee distribution lists, track and claim missing items, and coordinate returns with vendors as needed.
- Oversee the maintenance of both physical and digital library collections across all office locations, including updating the library catalog and assisting with relocation or reorganization projects.
- Stay current with industry developments by reviewing legal and library publications, attending professional development events, and participating in ongoing vendor training.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned to support the broader research and library services function.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Degree in Library and Information Science (Bachelor’s degree or MLS) or equivalent work experience.
- 2 years of experience conducting legal and business research in a law firm, corporate legal department, or academic law library setting.
- Working knowledge of legal research databases and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with Ohio and Kentucky laws, legislation, courts, and agencies is a plus.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Proficient in a wide range of legal research tools and databases, including Westlaw, Bloomberg Law, PACER, and other similar platforms.
- Experienced in legislative and regulatory tracking, public records research, and litigation monitoring.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize complex information, delivering clear, concise, and actionable insights.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail; able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to working with attorneys and staff.
- Committed to ongoing professional growth and staying current with legal research tools and trends.
- Service-oriented, with a proactive mindset and a focus on supporting attorney productivity.
- Flexible, resourceful, and open to new challenges and evolving needs.
- Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Occasional travel to other firm offices may be required.
