We have been retained by Becker Pumps, located in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, as they are seeking an Accounting Manager to join their team.


This role is based in Northeast Ohio, and our client is prioritizing candidates who reside in the region. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.


Summary:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day accounting operations of the Becker Pumps Corporation, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and company policies. This role supervises the Becker Pumps Corporation’s accounting team processes, collaborates with other departments, and supports strategic financial planning.


Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

  • Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit management, payroll, and tax compliance.
  • Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP or other relevant standards.
  • Ensure the timely closing of financial periods and reconciliation of accounts.
  • Prepares cash forecasts and periodic reporting.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team to maintain a high-performing and motivated workforce.
  • Assign tasks and projects, monitor progress, and provide feedback to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and identify opportunities for professional development.

Compliance and Audit:

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and external regulations.
  • Prepare for and assist with internal and external audits, addressing any findings and implementing improvements as needed.
  • Maintains a system of controls over accounting transactions.
  • Maintains an orderly accounting filing system; ensures proper record retention.
  • Oversee tax filings, including sales and use taxes, payroll taxes, and corporate income taxes.

Process Improvement:

  • Evaluate and enhance accounting processes and systems to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Implement and monitor internal control systems to safeguard company assets and prevent discrepancies.

Budgeting and Reporting:

  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the company’s budget and forecasts.
  • Provide detailed financial analysis and reports to management, highlighting trends and actionable insights.
  • Support decision-making by providing financial modeling and scenario analyses.

Special Projects:

  • Support or participate in special projects, such as system implementations, policy updates, or M&A activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and resolve financial challenges.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience working with companies that operate in multiple states, including managing payroll for multi-state employees and compliance with tax and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with accounting and tax practices for businesses shipping to all 50 states, including sales and use tax compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Payroll and benefits administration experience
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and safeguard confidential information.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
