Applications Engineer - SAP (Software Engineer) / SAP ABAP Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Applications Engineer - SAP to join our dynamic team. This role focuses on the development, configuration, and maintenance of computer and telephony technology tools used to create, store, exchange, and utilize all forms of information. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of SAP systems, particularly legacy AFS and S4 systems, and experience in one or more hot skill technologies (e.g., Java, .NET, PeopleSoft).

Responsibilities:

• Analyze, debug, and create innovative solutions for both legacy AFS and new S4 SAP systems.
• Develop code, configure applications, and design job schedules for high-risk, complex requirements.
• Install software and updates for critical systems and oversee the deployment of code across environments.
• Conduct and approve design and code reviews to ensure compliance with business requirements and corporate standards.
• Collaborate with vendors to influence decisions on overall direction, standards, and solutions.
• Approve and review test plans, test executions, and validate results.
• Contribute to database design and create critical-path, advanced technical designs.
• Recommend and develop proof-of-concepts and lead technical/design documentation.
• Perform application support, troubleshoot issues, and provide resolution with internal and external resources.
• Define and communicate technical requirements, scope, and project budgets.
• Apply architecture, governance, security, and global process standards to system changes and deployments.
• Establish and maintain coding/configuration standards and best practices.
• Conduct performance monitoring, analyze performance benchmarks, and recommend optimization opportunities.
• Create and execute performance test scripts and analyze results to ensure applications meet customer needs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
• Extensive experience with SAP systems, including legacy AFS and S4.
• Proficiency in one or more hot skill technologies (Java, .NET, PeopleSoft).
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to recommend and implement technical solutions.
• Experience with design and deployment of applications, including performance tuning and optimization.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and vendors.
• Excellent understanding of technical environments, risk mitigation, and governance standards.
• Proficient in creating and reviewing technical documents, test plans, and performance scripts.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with RFP processes and budget planning for engineering tasks.
