We are seeking a Quantum Hardware Design Engineer to join our mission of accelerating the delivery of useful quantum computers. Our internal program is dedicated to advancing topological qubits for large-scale quantum computing, while also collaborating with a growing list of companies to enhance their qubit hardware on the Quantum Accelerator Platform.
In this role, you will research, design, develop, and optimize quantum devices and relevant hardware, bridging the gap between solid-state quantum components—such as quantum dots, superconducting circuits, and topological qubits—and the broader quantum computing architecture, including hardware and software layers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and analysis on qubit and component technologies.
- Design, propose, and simulate novel qubit and qubit gate architectures.
- Collaborate with teams in modelling, fabrication, measurement, hardware, and systems to advance quantum computing subsystems.
- Develop and operate cryogenic testing systems for solid-state qubits, ensuring accurate measurements and performance evaluation.
- Design and model multi-qubit systems and quantum gate approaches, applying expertise to build innovative quantum plane architectures.
- Stay at the forefront of emerging quantum technologies and industry trends.
- Act as a bridge between hardware development and architecture teams to drive the roadmap toward a scalable quantum computer.
- Evaluate and balance factors such as reporting formats, cost constraints, and security requirements in product planning.
Qualifications:
- 8-10 years in quantum hardware research, design, or development.
- PhD in Physics, Quantum Information Science, or a related discipline, with 2 years of hands-on experience.
- Proven expertise in building and operating cryogenic testing systems for solid-state qubits.
- Extensive experience in solid-state quantum computing architectures, including superconducting and semiconductor qubits.
- Deep knowledge of quantum gate design, control systems, and quantum device physics.
- Ability to align scientific advancements with product development and commercialization timelines.
