The Personal Care Assistant aids people autism and developmental disabilities with living skills, development, health maintenance and medication administration, personal care, and behavioral development in accordance with a person Plan of Service and Support. This team member will assist participation for people served in traditional daily and weekly activities such as grocery shopping, going to movies, or other activities in the home. The team member must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current vehicle insurance
To perform the job successfully the person must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function listed below.
o Provide training, assistance and/or supervision to people in the areas of daily living, personal care, financial management, community and social integration, medication administration, and/or job skills development.
o Establish a therapeutic relationship with the people receiving services to ensure effective guidance, support and service delivery. Ensure objectives are met in accordance with the Service Plan. Provide support to members of direct support team to complete this responsibility.
o Provide transportation for people receiving services to planned and/or necessary activities and appointments as required.
o Maintain current progress and service notes. Complete and submit required documentation to Director of Day Services and Community Support Services in accordance with any applicable policies and deadlines.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in caregiving and providing personal care assistance
- Knowledge of medication administration and patient observation
- Familiarity with working with individuals with autism and disabilities
- Skills in assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Experience in home and community care settings
- Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred
- Strong cleaning and cooking abilities to support client needs
Summary
As a Personal Care Assistant (in-home respite), you will provide essential support to individuals with disabilities and autism, ensuring their comfort and well-being in a home setting. Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $11.70 - $12.44 per hour
