What We Are Looking For :

We are looking for a manager of Product Development to contribute to BDI's current and future growth by leading the product design group in providing innovative sensing and measurement products. These products are used for short-term testing and long-term monitoring of bridges and other large structures. This candidate will establish a strong foundation for successful R&D processes and reinforce the quality culture within the R&D group. They will be a technical knowledge leader within BDI, bringing both deep technical knowledge and broad team leadership skills to the role.

What You'll Do :

  • Project Management

Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of R&D projects, ensuring that timelines, budgets, and objectives are met.

  • Manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, and budget, to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as marketing, operations, and production, to ensure the smooth transition of products from development to market.
  • Innovation and Product Development
  • Lead the development of new products or the enhancement of existing ones by fostering innovation and creative problem-solving within the team.

  • Ensure that R&D initiatives align with market trends, customer needs, and the company's strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to create prototypes, run trials, and optimize products before commercialization.
  • Collaboration and Communication
  • Collaborate with other departments, including marketing, sales, and manufacturing, to ensure that R&D efforts are aligned with business needs and market demand.

  • Communicate the progress, challenges, and outcomes of R&D projects to senior management, providing regular updates and recommendations for future actions.
  • Manage relationships with external partners, including universities, research institutions, and suppliers, to foster collaboration and access new technologies or knowledge.
  • You Are :

  • Leader : Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire R&D teams to deliver high-quality research, innovation, and products.
  • Technical Expert : Deep understanding of the technical field related to the company's products (e.g., monitoring, engineering, software development).
  • Project Manager : Proficient in managing large-scale research projects, including budgeting, resource allocation, and timeline management.
  • Problem-Solver : Ability to solve complex scientific or technical problems through innovative thinking and creative solutions.
  • Communicator : Excellent communication skills for presenting research findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, preferred.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and technical knowledge of wireless data communication.
  • Experience using electromechanical sensors, calibration processes, and on-site manufacturing.
  • Experience working in impactful electronic product and digital embedded designs.
  • Working knowledge of analog sensor signal conditioning.
  • Benefits and Compensation :

    Starting Salary Range : $105,000 - $125,000 per year dependent on experience.
