BRIDGE For Community Life Route Drivers provide an essential service to families and it is highly rewarding! This position is ideal for a person who enjoys working with both youth and adults. We seek candidates who are interested in helping youth and adults with disabilities safely access the community with BRIDGE Transportation.
Work Schedule:
7:00 am- -9:00 am- or 2:45 pm-5:00 pm
Monday- Friday schedule may be flexible though the week
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Route Driver at BRIDGE for Community Life Inc., you will be responsible for safely transporting individuals with disabilities to and from Adult Day Services programs. This role is crucial in ensuring that our clients arrive at their destinations safely and on time. Key duties include:
- Providing morning and/or afternoon transportation to individuals with disabilities
- Driving in various weather conditions, including interstate highways and rural areas
- Assisting individuals with fastening seat belts and following seizure protocols as needed
- Helping individuals who use wheelchairs onto and off buses or vans, ensuring wheelchairs are correctly fastened
- Adhering to all traffic laws, company policies, and procedures
- Refueling vehicles to ensure operational readiness
- Performing basic vehicle maintenance, including interior detailing (vacuuming and wiping surfaces)
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with managers, parents/riders
- Ability to drive a variety of vehicles, including mini-vans, 15-passenger vans, 17-passenger Transit vans, and small to medium-sized buses
- Must pass a criminal history background check
- Must have an acceptable driving record
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit and drive for up to 2 hours at a time
- Must be able to use fingers and hands for vehicle operation and other duties
- Ability to bend, stoop, and balance as needed
- Ability to listen and speak clearly
- Regular and punctual attendance is essential
