The Assistant Underwriter plays a crucial role in supporting the underwriting team by assisting in the evaluation and assessment of insurance applications. This position involves reviewing and processing various insurance proposals, gathering necessary documentation, and helping assess risk factors to determine appropriate coverage terms and premiums.
How You Will Contribute
- Marketing of new and renewal policy submissions which may include underwriting and rating with alternate carrier channels.
- Negotiate terms and conditions which may include pricing, coverages, deductibles and exclusions.
- Solicit and market additional lines of coverage.
- Review insurance applications and quotes for accuracy/completeness.
- Provide service for existing accounts, surplus lines compliance, and/or obtaining necessary account information for underwriting purposes.
- Service client files as account manager for: submission files, policy and endorsement issuance, invoicing policy delivery, and verify audits are completed.
- Follow established quality control guidelines.
- Meet licensing requirements.
- Communicate while building key relationships with retail agents and carriers while supporting the Team Leader (Production UW).
- Holds an active state insurance license, 2-20 or 4-40 license.
- Two to Three Years of Commercial Lines Insurance experience
- Supportive of the Sales & Production process
- Proficiency in Word & Excel
- Attention to Detail
- Effectively prioritize Job Duties in a deadline driven environment.
- Self-Motivated with ability to thrive in a production focused Team Environment
- Goal Oriented
- Committed to excellent customer service
- Insurance Carrier rating experience (Preferred)
