Job Title: Family Advocate

About Bridgehaven Children's Advocacy Center:
Bridgehaven Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) is dedicated to serving the community through comprehensive support for children in need. The Family Advocate (FA) is directly responsible to the Family Advocacy Manager of Bridgehaven Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) and adheres to the mission of the Center. The FA is responsible for assisting with all aspects of client interaction, including offering services, assessing and referring the families for services, managing the evaluation and tracking process, managing all data systems, assisting with statistical and programmatic reports and data.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in completing client intakes with families for forensic interviews
- Provide information and updates on the case progress and support to children and their parents or caregivers
- Ensure that families are referred to appropriate health and social service agencies to obtain additional services as needed
- Assist families with applications for Crime Victims’ Compensation, Court Advocacy and other
- Family Services as needed
- Participates in multidisciplinary team (MDT) case review meetings as required
- Assists Children's Protective Services, law enforcement and other professionals of the MDT
- Ongoing case management and follow up with families
- Documentation of all case activities
- Assist in maintaining records of services provided
- Input case data into the applicable case tracking system and other spreadsheets or databases
- Assist with completing any statistical or programmatic reports and/or special projects
- If Spanish speaking, provide Bilingual Services:
- Identify Spanish speaking resources
- All contact with Spanish speaking clients for referrals, case information/updates, intakes, and other assistance as required
- Provide community education to Spanish speaking community as requested
- Assist and is backup for CAPE duties such as: coordinating parades, conducting presentations and speaking engagements, April Child Abuse Prevention Month Activities, and CAPE quarterly newsletter
- Work on a 24-hour on call availability for emergency interviews/staffings
- Attend training locally and out of town
- Assist Services Staff with any and all duties as required
- Travel between main office (Dayton, TX) and satellite office (Anahuac, TX) as needed.
- If cross-trained, any other relevant duties as needed
- Any other duties as assigned by the Program Director or Executive Director
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred
- Fluent in Spanish a plus
- Experience working with children
- Experience in computer data entry and word processing
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Must possess organizational skills
- Demonstrate positive outgoing attitude
- Should be resourceful, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and flexible-possessing a positive team oriented attitude, tact, good judgment, cultural sensitivity, and high professional standards and ethics
- Dependable transportation with insurance and willingness for minimal local travel
- Must submit to criminal history and Children’s Protective Services background check
- Must execute confidentiality statement
- Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws regarding child abuse a plus
Other Information:
- Position involves some evening and weekend hours
- Available for on-call schedule
- Travel is required to meet the needs of the job and CACTX standards for educational and
- business purposes
Additional Information
The successful candidate will undergo a criminal background history check and a CPS background check as part of the hiring process.
