What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Teacher K-8 position at Bridgeprep Academy of Hollywood Hills?
A Permanent Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing continuous classroom instruction and support in the absence of the regular teacher. Unlike daily substitute teachers, permanent substitutes are assigned to a specific school and are available for long-term or short-term assignments as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Classroom Instruction:
- Deliver lessons based on teacher-prepared plans or develop instructional activities when necessary.
- Maintain a structured and engaging learning environment.
- Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate student learning needs.
- Classroom Management:
- Implement school policies and classroom rules to ensure a positive learning atmosphere.
- Address behavioral issues and maintain discipline per school guidelines.
- Establish a supportive and respectful classroom culture.
- Student Support & Engagement:
- Provide academic guidance and support to students.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Monitor student progress and report any concerns to the appropriate staff.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with administrators, teachers, and staff to ensure consistency in instruction.
- Communicate with parents and guardians as needed regarding student performance and behavior.
- Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions.
- Administrative & Additional Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and classroom activities.
- Assist in grading assignments and preparing instructional materials.
- Take on additional school duties as assigned, such as lunch or hallway supervision.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (preferred).
- Experience: Previous teaching or substitute teaching experience is preferred.
- Skills: Strong classroom management abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Adaptability and flexibility to work across different grade levels and subjects.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
