What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controls Engineer position at Bridger Automation?
About the Role:
We’re looking for someone who speaks fluent ladder logic, doesn’t flinch at the sight of a wiring diagram, and actually enjoys chasing down a rogue input that only fails when you’re not looking. If you’ve ever high-fived yourself after fixing a startup issue at 2AM, you’ll fit right in.
What You’ll Do:
-Program PLCs and HMIs (primarily Allen-Bradley)
-Design and review control panel layouts and wiring
-Support system commissioning, I/O checkouts, and troubleshooting
-Work with conveyors, scanners, print-and-apply systems, and other warehouse automation hardware
-Collaborate with electricians, mechanical teams, and customers to deliver reliable systems
What We’re Looking For:
-2 years of experience in controls or industrial automation
-Solid understanding of PLCs, VFDs, and industrial networking (EtherNet/IP, etc.)
-Comfortable reading schematics and wiring up a panel
-Willingness to travel for project installs and startups
-Someone who takes pride in clean code, clean panels, and solving problems without drama
Note: None of these are hard requirements. If you’re missing a couple of things but you’re hungry to learn and love this kind of work, we still want to hear from you.
Why Bridger?
We’re building something cool. A team of engineers who like solving problems, working hard, and then heading outside to fish, hunt, or hit the trails. If you’re into controls and the outdoors, you’ll feel right at home.
