Substitute Cosmetology/Barbering Instructor
Available to work between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday -Friday, as needed.
Job Summary:
Bridgerland Technical College is looking for an energetic and motivated substitute instructor to work with Cosmetology/Barbering students. Flexibility and availability on short notice are important, as well as someone who enjoys working with students and clients.
Qualification: High School Diploma, a valid Utah Cosmetology license, and some industry and/or teaching experience.
Responsibilities Include:
- Follow instructor's lesson plans in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning, and that encourages students to participate.
- Assign classwork and homework as necessary, according to the instructor's lesson plans.
- Modify teaching to fit the learning styles of various students.
- Maintain a well-managed classroom and/or lab area and a positive learning environment.
- Supervise and assist students who are providing customer services at the lab/salon areas.
Duties and Skills:
- Flexible, friendly and good at establishing quick rapport with students.
- Setting the proper tone from the beginning for classroom management.
- Ability to learn and complete tasks on the point of sale system.
- Scheduling appointments for customers in person and on the phone.
- Tracking, completing and filing customer intake forms with students.
- Explaining and demonstrating Cosmetology/Barbering techniques in a classroom or salon setting.
