The Arc of Space Coast is seeking a dedicated and passionate Program Manager to lead our Residential Group Home. SUMMARY: Coordinates the overall operation of the group home and is responsible for the supervision, training and safety of individuals served in the residential program and the scheduling, supervision and training of direct care staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

GENERAL DUTIES:

Supports Medical Services in transportation and support for medical and dental appointments of individuals served.

Maintains contact with family members of individuals served.

Monitors incident reports, contacts parents, support coordinators and others, as necessary, and provides follow-up if needed.

Plans, oversees and follows up on the implementation of a variety of community inclusion experiences for individuals served.

Conducts program specific orientation for new staff.

Provides on-going training to DSS.

Participates and gives input in the hiring of DSS staff.

Maintains communication with D.S. & Waiver Support Coordinators.

Substitutes for DSS when necessary.

Checks time records and computes hours.

Participates in meetings and committees as requested.

Acts as a liaison to Center staff in the resolution of individuals specific issues.

Ensures communication with Center staff.

Assists in developing budgetary goals and monitoring expenditures.

Manages staff resources to meet program, individuals served and budgetary goals.

Provides disciplinary action when necessary.

Addresses complaints and resolves problems, when necessary.

Maintains Position Control Document and staff schedules.

Completes routine daily inspections of HUD group home, takes action to conserve electricity (i.e. turns off lights in unoccupied rooms), performs basic maintenance tasks (i.e. changing light bulbs), reports maintenance problems/needed repairs using proper procedures, performs custodial duties as required.

MONTHLY DUTIES:

  • Develops, schedules and oversees implementation of leisure and recreation activities for individuals served completes activity calendar monthly to be mailed to family members.
  • Completes monthly IPP data sheets and documents progress monthly.
  • Maintains contact with DC&F contract monitor, meets at least monthly to ensure compliance with DC&F standards.
  • Facilitates monthly meetings of the Resident Government.
  • Maintains records of income and expenditures of individuals served.
  • Ensures fire drills and other safety procedures are completed monthly.
  • Completes monthly attendance record and submits to finance department.
  • Participates in monthly staff meetings and maintains meeting minutes log.

PROGRAMMATIC DUTIES:

  • Writes I.P.P.s and individuals specific training programs which address support plan outcomes.
  • Reviews program data monthly and modifies programs as needed.
  • Attends annual I.P.P. meetings.
  • Completes Annual assessment for each resident.
  • Completes Annual and Semi-Annual progress reports.
  • Participates in Support Plan Meetings, when invited.

Performs related work as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Is responsible for the coordination of group home activities. Prepares work schedules for group home staff. Directly supervises the Direct Support Staff who support the individuals served in the group home.

Must be on-call during the week and rotating on-call duties for weekends and holidays.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining, and recommending hiring and termination of employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be eligible for employment under State of Florida Statutes 393, 394, 397, 402, and 409. A fingerprint check, Florida Abuse Registry screening, and local, state, federal law enforcement background checks are required to ensure eligibility.
  • Employees requesting authorization or reimbursement of expenses for business use of personal vehicle must have proof of valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
  • Must have a valid Florida operator’s license, be at least 25 years of age, have five years of licensed driving experience, with no significant violations for the past three years in order to qualify to operate an agency leased van.
  • Must have the ability to act as a role model in the demonstration of social skills, household skills and activities of daily living.
  • Must work in a positive, supportive and cooperative manner with direct care staff and all levels of management.
  • Must comply with the agency's drug free workplace policy.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; and a minimum of one year of professional experience in residential programs for adults with developmental disabilities. Preferred degrees: psychology, social work, special education, or a related field. Professional experience in related work may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid. (May be acquired during first 30 days of employment.)

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional literature, research, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of individuals served and their families, agency staff, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to handle money, count change and make purchases.
  • Ability to interpret data from training programs and compute percentages to record residents’ progress toward meeting IPP goals.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with concrete/abstract variables in situations where standardization exists. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, talk or hear, smell and drive a van. The employee must sometimes lift or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is frequently required to visually discriminate between small objects (i.e.- pills) and to manipulate small objects.
