Grant Specialist

Position can be remote or hybrid

45 to $50 per hour, commensurate of experience

This is a non-benefited position, up to 15 hours per week

PURPOSE and POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Senior Director of Fund Development and Communications and working closely members of the Senior Management Team, the Grants Specialist is responsible for researching, developing, and submitting grant proposals to secure funding from federal, state, local, corporate, and private sources. This role supports Bridges Healthcare by ensuring proposals are compelling, timely, and aligned with our mission and program needs.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

Research & Prospecting :

  • Research and identify new funding opportunities from government agencies, corporations, foundations, and private sources.
  • Identify and utilize prospecting tools and conduct thorough prospect research to align funding opportunities with organizational goals.
  • Stay current on funding announcements and trends, compile prospects, and share opportunities with team members.
  • Gain understanding of Bridges Healthcare organizational history and current programs.

Grant Writing & Proposal Development :

  • Write, edit, and submit high-quality, clear, and persuasive proposals tailored to each funder's guidelines.
  • Develop accurate budget narratives in collaboration with the Finance Department.
  • Coordinate proposal review process between various departments and staff, allowing enough time for all necessary reviews to be done prior to submission deadline.
  • Work closely with senior management, program staff, and other departments to assess funding needs, gather necessary information, and craft compelling narratives that demonstrate need and prove program outcomes and efficacy.
  • Grant Administration :

  • Work closely with our Executive Office Administrator to manage grant submissions, organize and gather supporting documents, ensure adherence to both internal and external deadlines, track grants, and implement and maintain a calendar of activities (submissions, reporting, due dates etc.).
  • Maintain comprehensive records of proposals, submissions, and communications.
  • Successfully navigate State (CT) and Federal grant funding online systems.
  • Serve as a liaison with funding agencies and partner organizations, ensuring effective and professional communication.
  • Additional Duties :

  • Support the Development & Communications team on special projects (e.g., sponsorship research and solicitation, data collection for annual reports).
  • Perform any other department or agency-related duties or special projects as assigned by supervisor.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional grant writing experience; experience in healthcare or human services is a plus.
  • English professional proficiency and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in grant administration, prospect research, and grant writing.
  • Proven success in securing significant grant awards.
  • Experience writing and reporting on state (CT) and Federal grants preferred.
  • Highest level of ethical standards as well as commitment to Bridges mission and values.
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm to produce strong, detail-oriented, organized work.
  • Self-starter with the abilities to establish priorities with supervisor, multi-task, work independently as well as part of a team, and remain flexible as projects shift.
  • Proficient in standard office software and online submission systems; reliable internet connection for remote work.
  • Bridges is STAR-LRP AND HRSA Approved, and some positions may be eligible for loan repayment through these programs.
