This position will be responsible for collaborating with other counselors and delivering a comprehensive school counseling program that is both preventative in design and effective in implementation. Reporting directly to the elementary principal, your role will support students in their academic achievement, individual planning, and personal and social development. You will utilize data to assess student needs, collaborating closely with families and staff to deliver informed recommendations. You will engage with students and create a supportive environment tailored to their unique challenges. This is an opportunity to empower young learners while fostering a culture of empathy, safety, and excellence within our dynamic school community.
A Bachelor's degree is required, with a Master's preferred in a related educational field, alongside current South Carolina Educator Certification or the ability to obtain it. You should have three to five years of teaching experience, providing a solid foundation for understanding student dynamics. Essential skills include effective communication and interpersonal abilities, allowing you to establish and maintain meaningful relationships with students, parents, and school personnel.
Additionally, your experience in coaching and mentoring will be crucial as you guide students through their academic and personal growth journeys. An empathetic approach, combined with the ability to analyze data and implement strategies, will ensure that you can address the diverse needs of our student body effectively. This role requires a passionate individual committed to fostering a supportive and safe educational environment.
Knowledge and skills required for the position are :
- Bachelor's degree required; masters preferred in related education area
- Current South Carolina Educator Certification or ability to obtain
- Relevant experience in coaching and mentoring students
- Three to five years teaching experience preferred
- Ability to communicate with people effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationship with students, parents and school personnel
This position is for the 2025 - 2026 school year, follows the approved school calendar and is a 205 Guidance Counselor schedule.
