POSITION: After School Program Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Chief Operating Officer
Bridges is an inclusive early childhood and elementary school and we are seeking individuals who are interested in supporting staff and students involved in our before and aftercare programs. Our classrooms are culturally and linguistically diverse and include students with special needs.
Bridges' mission is to provide an exemplary educational program that includes all students. Our developmentally appropriate, student and family-centered educational approach nurtures students to expand their developmental skills, in order to build a foundation for life-long learning. Bridges Public Charter School is expanding into an elementary program.
TIME COMMITMENT/WORK HOURS:
The After School Coordinator position is a part-time, 10-month, position. Work hours for this role are from Monday - Thursday 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Friday 1:00 - 6:00 pm.
Consideration can also be applied to an additional hours of the school day as a substitute teacher. Summer school hours as a coordinator are also available.
The After School Program Coordinator should be an extremely organized and responsible individual. Please note that during the extended day program, you may be working "in ratio" leading and personally executing the program, when experiencing a high number of scheduled staff absences.
The After School Program Coordinator will report to the Chief Operating Officer and will work on a consistent basis to improve and enhance our extended care program.
QUALIFICATIONS: Ideal candidates for this position will:
- Have a BA/BS degree in education or a related field.
- Have experience working in an after-school or out-of-school time position.
- Have experience managing adults.
- Have experience working with students with special needs.
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, community members, and staff members.
- Demonstrate strong skills in partnering with other team members and families.
- Be committed to meeting the needs of a diverse student population.
- Have a track record of being a team player and community minded.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Duties include but are not limited to:
Coordinate enrollment and using the platform (EZChildTrack)
- Update and manage the student information system as needed (i.e., attendance, behavior incident reporting)
- Support with creating classroom lists and coordinating tracking
- Creating staffing patterns and schedules for staff
- Coordinate additional administrative components of the program, such as appropriate reporting, attendance tracking, maintaining snack counts, and submitting any necessary compliance documentation.
- Be a support for after care staff; impartial and fair; create a team environment that encourages open communication regarding concerns/issues with children, parents or coworkers.
- Initiate and maintain positive relationships with school staff including Director, Assistant Director, Administration, Custodial staff and teachers.
- Reviewing and preparing staff and student files to meet program licensing regulations.
- Supporting work for school’s day care subsidy application.
- Leading after care staff meetings weekly at both campuses. Date to be determined.
- Conducting formal and informal classroom observations monthly.
- Developing lesson plans for the aftercare program on monthly topics, 3 activities a week. After care staff will develop 2 plans weekly.
- Assisting with interviewing and hiring before and aftercare staff.
- Working with staff on professional development – planning and leading training
- Record keeping and reporting of student attendance.
- Billing/invoicing related to before and after school payments and fees, as well as other school program fees (meals, field trip fees).
- Participating in First Aid/CPR Training.
- Other duties as assigned
COMPENSATION:
Salary is based on experience - range $25-30/hour.
In addition to your salary, which is paid on a bi-weekly schedule, you are eligible for the following: DC Sick Leave: You will receive 1 hour of DC Sick time for every 37 hours worked.
This position is not eligible for Bridges benefits.
