Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician (Part-Time) to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in facilities maintenance and demonstrate proficiency in various technical skills. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities by performing skilled maintenance work and related tasks. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining equipment, conducting repairs, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and other general construction duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance Operations:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including drywall & flooring repair/install, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and painting.
- Repair any issues in a timely manner.
- Respond promptly to work orders and maintenance requests from tenants and staff.
- Assist with emergency repairs as needed.
- Preventive Maintenance:
- Maintain equipment and tools to ensure they are in safe working condition.
- Record maintenance activities and complete checklists for scheduled maintenance routines.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and building codes.
- Identify potential safety hazards and report them to the Maintenance Department Supervisor.
- Participate in safety training sessions and adhere to established safety protocols.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in performing maintenance tasks.
- Drywall & Flooring Install (vinyl plank) experience required.
- Carpentry, Painting, Plumbing, HVAC & Electrical experience preferred.
- Effective time management and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer proficiency is required.
Experience and Education:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical certification in maintenance-related fields is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in general maintenance is required. Candidates should have a solid background in facilities maintenance with hands-on experience in mechanical repairs. Familiarity with electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, and general construction practices are essential. A proactive approach to problem-solving combined with effective communication skills will contribute to success in this position.
- Certifications: Certification in electrical, HVAC, or plumbing is desired. Valid NJ driver’s license required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and handling of maintenance tools and equipment.
- Ability to work in varied conditions, including outdoor environments and confined spaces.
Work Environment:
- Primarily on-site work across various Housing Authority properties.
- Exposure to noise, machinery, and potential hazards while performing maintenance tasks.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
