Key Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures, ensuring a sterile and efficient environment.
- Prepare surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Monitor and maintain anesthesia under the supervision of the veterinarian.
- Provide preoperative and postoperative care, including patient monitoring and recovery.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records.
- Perform laboratory tests, radiographs, and other diagnostic procedures as required.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the surgical suite and equipment.
- Educate pet owners about postoperative care and medication administration.
- Assist with emergency cases as needed.
- Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with veterinary surgical practices.
- This position is not a primary anesthesia position, but on occasion some anesthesia may be required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) with a valid license in Oregon.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a veterinary surgical or emergency setting.
- Proficient in anesthesia monitoring and surgical assisting.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
- Compassionate and dedicated to providing the highest standard of care to patients.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Dexterity to handle surgical instruments and equipment.
