What are the responsibilities and job description for the EMS Faculty position at BridgeValley CTC?
•Assist in coordination of the didactic, lab, clinical and/or field internship instruction
•Plan, teach, and evaluate assigned AEMT and Paramedic didactic courses and lab/clinical components of assigned courses to a diverse student population
•Create and maintain an intellectual environment conducive to critical thinking and significant learning experiences
•Effectively communicate with students, peers, constituents, and communities of interest
•Provide service to students, professional development, the institution, and community
•Provide cooperative involvement with the Medical Director
•Provide clinical coordination and supervision of students in clinical assignments
•Monitor the tracking system used by the program for data collection and to ensure minimum competencies are met
•Collect and review student immunization records to ensure compliance and safeguard student health and safety
•Collect and review complete student health records to approve or disapprove students for clinical rotations
•Establish and maintain accurate reports and records of activities and filing of state reports as required to maintain state endorsement and national accreditation
•Establish and maintain class/lab supplies in compliance with WVOEMS standards
•Attend program related committee meetings
•Maintain valid credentialing
•Stay current with evidenced based practice
•Monitor the effectiveness and quality of fulfillment of responsibilities delegated to other qualified individuals (Skill Lab Adjuncts, Preceptors, etc)
•Complete other duties as assigned by the Program Director, Dean and/or Vice-President for Academic Affairs
•Have experience in academic training and preparation related to emergency medical services at least equivalent to that of a paramedic
•Professional healthcare credentials (CPR, ACLS, PALS, AMLS, and PHTLS or equivalent)
•Current Paramedic Certification as issued by the West Virginia Office of EMS and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, or higher certification (MD, DO, or other subject matter expert)
•3 years or more experience in emergency medicine / prehospital care
•Knowledge of instructional methods
•Teaching experience to deliver content, skills instruction, and remediation
•Have or be able to obtain WVOEMS Lead instructor credentials
•Be knowledgeable about the current versions of the National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Education Standards, and about evidenced-informed clinical practice
