What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welding Faculty position at BridgeValley CTC?
BridgeValley Community and Technical College invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Department of Applied Technology. This position is initially based on the South Charleston campus, however teaching obligations may be on the Montgomery campus as well. In general, teaching assignments will depend on the needs of the institution at any given time.
This position is a full-time, 9-month faculty position with a non-tenure track. The monthly salary range for this position is 4,444-5,000. The actual salary offer will be commensurate with education and experience.• Provide instruction for assigned technology courses--including evaluation of student work, consultation, and additional instruction with student outside of class as necessary, and other efforts related to the teaching of assigned classes
• Teach curriculum material and develop daily lesson plans to ensure expected course outcomes are met
• Utilize different methods and mediums in delivering course material
• Support program, department, and institutional operational objectives
• Assist the department chair and program coordinator collecting data and preparing documentation for program reporting
• Support program delivery at both the South Charleston and Montgomery sites
• Support potential online course delivery
• Support the welding laboratory environment including: equipment maintenance, ordering supplies, and maintaining proper safety practices
• Participate in recruiting efforts for division programs including but not limited to such things as: giving tours to prospective students or tour groups, visiting high school and career technical centers, supporting institution and division outreach events
• Provide academic advisor services to students each semester to aid the student in achieving their educational goals Aid in student retention by giving timely feedback to students and the college concerning Academics, Behavior, Attendance, etc. and mentoring the student as required to aid in the development and growth of the student as they progress through the program
• Take an active role in job placement of students as they approach graduation
• Take an active role in intern placement of students
• Build and maintain contacts and relationships with industry as well as high school technical program instructors
• Keep abreast of the latest trends and needs of the industry
• Participate in Advisory Committee activities and solicit members to serve on the Committee
• Maintain expertise in subject area and recommend improvements, with possible training on specific processes, software, and equipment as required by the program
• Assume institutional responsibilities, including active participation in department, division, and institutional needs which may include, but not be limited to, class schedule preparation, budget development, club advising, committee participation, accreditation, articulation, and faculty governance
• Maintain a plan for self-development
• Monitor utilization of materials and supplies for most efficient use
• Other duties as assigned• Associate's degree in Welding or significant work experience in the welding field with appropriate certifications
• A minimum of three years of relevant industrial experience is required
• A commitment to teaching excellence, responsiveness to student needs, written and oral communication skills, experience applying teamwork skills, positive problem resolution skills as well as a commitment to lifelong learning and continuous improvement
Preferred
• Bachelor's degree
• Professional certification, such as AWS, ASME, CWI, ASNT, or similar Robotic welding experience
• Shop management experience
• Artistic/creative welding experience
• Blacksmithing experience
• Relevant fabrication skills such as CAD, CNC, machining, or similar Prior face-to-face teaching experience
• Prior online teaching experience
