Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in our skilled nursing facility. Duties
- Plan, organize, and implement recreational activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Assist in memory care programs that promote cognitive engagement and social interaction.
- Facilitate group activities, including games, arts and crafts, music sessions, and exercise classes.
- Communicate effectively with residents to encourage participation and ensure their comfort during activities.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to assess residents' needs and preferences for activity planning.
- Provide support during special events and outings, ensuring resident safety and enjoyment.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback on activities.
- Engage in ongoing training related to aging issues counseling and best practices in long-term care.
Qualifications
- Experience in senior care or a related field is preferred, particularly in a skilled nursing, adult daycare or assisted living type of setting.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff.
- Knowledge of recreational therapy principles and event planning techniques is a plus.
- Ability to assist residents with varying levels of physical ability while promoting independence.
- A genuine interest in enhancing the lives of our residents through meaningful engagement.
