We are seeking an intern to join our 2025 Summer Intern Cohort at Bridgewater Bank within the Internal Audit team. This a unique opportunity for someone to apply operational, analytical, and creative thinking to execute audits and other tasks within the Internal Audit function. On any given day, you could be interacting with different stakeholders across the organization, performing testing and reviewing documentation to support observations, and aiding the Internal Audit team with administrative projects aligned with our operating plan and strategy for the year. You will learn about controls, banking compliance and associated regulations and how Internal Audit provides assurance over these activities.

Bridgewater Bank’s internship is designed to engage students in real world banking activities to maximize student’s education with practical corporate experience. The program strives to provide students the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills learned in college to real life work within our organization. Interns will have the opportunity to work side by side with Bridgewater employees collaborating innovative ideas that fit our vision. As a Bridgewater intern, our interns will have the chance to sit in on meetings with their department and be assigned to individual projects which they present to the Cohort and the Operational and Senior Leadership Teams at the end of the Internship.

Intern Cohort duration: May 20, 2025 – August 29, 2025

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidates must be:
    • Currently enrolled in a 4-year bachelor’s degree program in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, or related field
    • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Organizational Skills - Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Strong analytical/reasoning skills with the ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation acumen.
  • Excellent organizational skills to deal with multiple projects and priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to:
    • Maintain confidential information to the highest degree.
    • Work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop an understanding of the Bank's audit approach, the banking industry, and the needs of the Bank
  • Learn skills to assists in developing audit programs and checklists
  • Primarily assist with executing and documenting tests/assessments for Compliance activities. May assist with other areas within the Internal Audit department, such as SOX, operational audits, and special projects
  • Learn how to document assumptions, methodology, validation, and testing, based on audit work performed, in an effective and timely manner
  • Develop skills to identify and research internal compliance issues and suggest recommendations for improvement
  • Interact with management to identify and communicate opportunities for control enhancements and business process improvement within business processes
  • Prepare summaries of findings for audit reports and assist with effective communication of audit results via written reports and presentations to functional and process owner management

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The hourly base pay range for this role is $20/hr. Bridgewater Bank provides:

  • Paid Holidays: Memorial Day, Juneteenth and July 4th
  • PTO accrued in compliance with MN ESST Law
