Overview :
The Lead PreK Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering age-appropriate curriculum and activities for young children in a preschool setting. The role involves ensuring the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of children, fostering a positive learning environment, and adhering to state education standards.
Key Responsibilities :
Curriculum Planning and Instruction :
Develop and implement an engaging, age-appropriate curriculum that supports the educational and developmental needs of preschool-aged children.
Use creative teaching methods to introduce foundational skills in areas like math, literacy, art, music, and motor development.
Tailor teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning needs and developmental levels
Classroom Management :
Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning.
Establish and maintain clear classroom routines and behavior expectations.
Foster positive relationships with children, promoting social skills, cooperation, and respect for others.
Child Development and Assessment :
Adhere to all special education processes, procedures and timelines
Develop and implement Individual Education Programs for Special Education students
Participate in the eligibility process for current and incoming students; including special education evaluations
Observe, assess, and document children's progress in key developmental areas (social, emotional, cognitive, and physical).
Implement individualized learning strategies for children with special needs or unique learning challenges.
Use developmental milestones and learning goals to track each child's progress, adapting teaching methods as needed.
Collaboration and Communication :
Communicate regularly with parents or caregivers regarding children's development, behavior, and achievements.
Work closely with other teachers and staff to ensure continuity in the learning experience.
Participate in team meetings to share insights, resources, and best practices.
Collaborate with specialists (speech therapists, occupational therapists, etc.) to support children with specific needs.
Qualifications :
Education : Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education
Certification : Must be DESE licensed in Special Education or Academic Teacher with Moderate or Severe Disabilities, License PreK
