Job Summary
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, Bridgeway Capital’s Controller will be a key member of the financial team. The Controller will be responsible for the management of day-to-day financial operations for Bridgeway Capital and its affiliate organizations to ensure proper reporting and internal control as well as timely and informative analysis.
Job responsibilities
· Supervise accounting and loan servicing staff.
· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to investors, governmental agencies, and other funders as required and in coordination with Impact and Compliance Manager.
· Oversee the general ledger closing process, accounts payable activities, and payroll functions.
· Prepare the quarterly financial statement variance analysis and accompanying narrative for clear and concise communication to the Board of Directors.
· Support the CFO in the monthly preparation of financial projections.
· Prepare monthly internal financial reporting package and related analyses in a consistent and timely manner.
· Manage all grant related accounting and reporting. Ascertain that all expenditures are spent within grant funding guidelines. Provide monthly reporting to the CFO and senior management regarding available funds and potential deadlines for use of funds.
· Manage the yearly financial statement audit and Form 990 preparation.
· Assist the CFO with the annual budget and planning process.
· Track, analyze and report on various financial data utilizing existing database software.
· Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and maintained.
· Document and maintain all financial policies and procedures.
· Evaluate financial processes and procedures for efficiency and effectiveness. Implement new or update current processes as appropriate to help the financial team function more efficiently itself as well as with other Bridgeway departments.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
Competitive candidates will demonstrate the following qualifications:
· Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA is preferred but not required
· Three to five years of experience in the following areas is required:
o Financial reporting and analysis in a general ledger environment
o Audit coordination and Form 990 preparation
o Strong oral and written communication skills
o Experience with Abila MIP Fund Accounting or comparable accounting software
· Three to five years of experience in the following areas is preferred:
o Staff supervision
o Software implementation
o Federal funds grant accounting and reporting
