The Major Bridges P3 Initiative is part of the PennDOT Pathways Program, which is designed to bolster PennDOT’s ongoing effort to address the state’s growing backlog of replacement and rehabilitation needs for major bridges that are approaching the end of their useful life. By allowing for the use of a P3 delivery model, PennDOT will be able to replace or rehabilitate major bridges around the state more quickly, achieve significant savings for taxpayers, and minimize the impact on the traveling public.
The purpose of the Pennsylvania Major Bridges Project is to deliver infrastructure improvements focusing on the rehabilitation and replacement of nine major bridges (and associated roadways) across the Commonwealth. Upon completion, it is estimated to be over $2B.
The Bridging Pennsylvania Constructors team is led jointly by S&B USA Construction and FCC. The consortium members have a 20-year-long track record of successful project delivery with PennDOT, having worked in all PennDOT districts.
POSITION SUMMARY
Assist the project team in all aspects of a construction project including field operations and project administration. This position is predominately based in the field and facilitates communication among project teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identifies and resolves any Safety deficiencies immediately with BPC Staff and Subcontractors.
- Conduct required Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliant work environment for all construction personnel. Attends weekly safety meetings with the field team and project leadership; presents field analysis as needed.
- Identifies and resolves any Environmental risks with BPC Staff and subcontractors.
- Meets daily with BPC staff and subcontractor staff to review schedules and confirm quality requirements.
- Assist in drafting and reviewing lookahead schedule products
- Collects, coordinates, and analyzes shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements, and project data throughout the project to ensure quality and contract specification compliance.
- Fully functional with BPC Electronic Document Management System (Aconex) and Sharepoint.
- Be able to input and track various factions within Aconex
- Provide technical input for project work plan and schedule. Identifying risk elements of production, materials, equipment, or process that could negatively impact the budget or schedule.
- Evaluate daily quality and performance. Document daily activities in company-approved methods and technologies.
- Notifies team members and manager of any significant schedule changes and recommends solutions for management consideration.
- Reviews and approves daily reports, as required.
- Performs inspections of in-progress work in accordance with the Project Construction Quality Management Plan
- Review project specifications for quality assurance at the beginning of work, during the project work, and after work is completed. Initiates and manages appropriate certificates, inspections, and other documentation regarding construction production on the project site.
- Coordinates with on-site BPC Survey Staff for required quality checks. Review data and discuss variances with PM and Quality Staff.
- Assist the estimating team with project schedules and provide technical input as needed.
- Assist with the development of design drawings and provide technical input, as needed.
- Reconcile job close-out checklist with owner representative and field crews at the end of the project.
- Collect and track maintenance during construction actions
- Maintain knowledge of the Company values and strategic plan.
- Perform additional assignments per management’s direction.
EDUCATION, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 2 years of field construction experience.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings.
- Computer literacy required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods.
- Requires driving occasionally for up to 2-5 hours.
- Requires working in outdoor weather conditions.
- Minimum physical exertion such as walking, lifting, standing for long periods, bending, or reaching may be required.
- Requires visual ability to perform tasks: preparing and analyzing data, plans, drawings, outlines, viewing a computer, and extensive reading.
- Requires the ability to physically operate standard office equipment i.e., laptop, phone, keyboard, mouse, etc.
