Forklift Operator
Briese Iron Works – Rochester, MN
Job Summary: The Forklift Operator will operate an industrial forklift truck to accomplish various materials handling assignments as well as performing various other fabrication functions. This is a full-time position working 5 – ten hour shifts, Monday through Friday. Overtime is paid out after 40 hours.
Position Reports To: The Director of Production and/or the Department Leader.
Position Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Identifies and transports requested materials to and from various locations including machines, trucks, and storage areas.
- Obtains production schedule and/or shipping orders and then identifies, verifies, and transports requested raw materials, equipment, or processing materials accordingly.
- Applies understanding of machine loading capacity and loading schedule, ensuring prompt and efficient delivery of required items.
- Uses protective materials and strapping equipment to protect and secure loads; once delivered, removes strapping and wrapping, then safely disposes of waste materials in designated containers or areas.
- Reports any problems with materials or transportation to supervisor.
- Manages and piles drums, skids, pallets, and other supplies in specified areas.
- Services equipment as needed, reporting mechanical or electrical difficulties to truck mechanic.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Maintain a neat and organized work station.
- Basic (9th grade) math, language, and reading skills.
- Ability to handle equipment and vehicles safely and sensibly.
- Promote a positive working environment to achieve company goals.
Education/Experience/ Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must have valid driver’s license
- Must have reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to maintain single-task focus and situational awareness.
- Must be able to move and lift up to 40-pound wooden skid or pallet.

- Training Period (90 Days), $25
- Level 1, $26.00
- Level 2, $27.00
- Level 3, $28.00
- Level 4, $29.00
- Master, $32.00 (4 years minimum service at Briese Iron Works required)
Reviews occur annually (or less) to re-evaluate skill level, so you are able to advance quickly if you master the core skills of each level.
