Job Summary

The Automotive Bodyshop Painter is responsible for preparing, priming, and painting vehicle surfaces to restore them to their original condition or apply custom finishes. The role requires attention to detail, technical expertise, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Surface Preparation:

   • Assess vehicle surfaces for defects, damage, or irregularities.
   • Clean, sand, mask, and prime areas to ensure proper paint adhesion.

2. Painting Process:

   • Mix and match paint colors to achieve accurate shades.
   • Operate spray guns and other painting equipment to apply base coats, clear coats, or specialty finishes.
   • Apply multiple layers of paint and ensure an even, high-quality finish.

3. Finishing Touches:

   • Buff and polish painted surfaces to achieve a smooth, glossy finish.
   • Inspect completed work for quality and accuracy, making corrections as needed.

4. Safety and Compliance:

   • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety guidelines to handle paints, chemicals, and equipment.
   • Dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with environmental regulations.

5. Equipment Maintenance:

   • Maintain and clean spray guns, paint booths, and other tools to ensure optimal performance.

6. Collaboration:

   • Work closely with other team members, including estimators and technicians, to meet deadlines and deliver exceptional results.
   • Communicate effectively with management about progress and potential issues.

Qualifications

• Experience:
  • 2 years of experience in automotive painting.
• Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail and precision.
  • Knowledge of color mixing, paint application techniques, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders.

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
• Exposure to fumes, chemicals, and loud noises.
