Job Summary
The Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) will work within the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Newborn Medicine to assist the principal investigator in conducting NIH-funded clinical nutrition and body composition research based within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Center for Child Development of Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Qualifications
The CRC will work independently under the day-to-day supervision of the Project Manager and/or more senior Research Assistants, in close collaboration with an experienced clinical research team to contribute to daily study operations. The role’s primary focuses include implementing the study procedures, assisting with measurements and collecting data within the NICU setting, and assisting with and/or conducting follow-up study visits in our Center for Child Development.
Within this role, there are opportunities for education and career development, including attendance of seminars, work-in-progress meetings, and clinical case discussions. Opportunities to participate in oral or poster presentations and/or to contribute to manuscript preparation may be available after six months of employment. A 2-year commitment is strongly preferred. Please note that candidates possessing the requisite credentials and experience may be considered for a CRCII position.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist with screening patients for eligibility
- Support recruitment, retention, and consent activities
- Coordination and assistance with anthropometric measurements, body composition assessment, ERP, and MRI scanning
- Assist with coordinating and conducting follow-up assessments after NICU discharge including physical measurements and developmental tasks
- Maintain inventory and assist with study supply ordering
- In wet laboratory setting, follow established protocols to select, thaw, aliquot, document, store, and ship biological samples to collaborating laboratories
- Maintain close communication with research team, including daily check-ins and active participation in weekly operational meetings.
Bachelor's Degree Science required
Experience
- BA/BS degree required; psychology, child development, health science, nutrition, psychology, biology, chemistry or neuroscience degree preferred
- Experience in a hospital setting strongly preferred
- Hands on experience with infants, toddlers and preschoolers strongly preferred
- Phlebotomy trained would be a strong advantage
- Basic data analysis skills would be a strong advantage
- Previous experience in clinical research would be a strong advantage
- Fluency in Spanish would be an advantage

- High level of interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with parents of study participants and NICU and follow up staff and providers
- Understanding of child development and experience working with young children
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary research team
- Ability to adapt to unanticipated changes and troubleshoot problems in a timely manner
- High level of organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks independently
- Ability to learn and adhere to established study protocols and procedures
- Basic bench laboratory skills including protocol adherence, thorough documentation, and precise measurements
- Analytical skills to collect and synthesize information from various sources
- Ability to work independently and problem-solve
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Previous experience with REDCap and/or Epic software preferred
