What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Assistant I, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine position at Brigham and Women's Hospital?

The Research Assistant will work with the Principal Investigator and other staff to assist with laboratory-based research focused on understanding mechanisms of the metabolic pathogenesis of mTOR-driven tumors. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Indicate key areas of responsibility, major job duties, special projects and key objectives for this position. These items should be evaluated throughout the year and included in the written annual evaluation. The technician will assist with experiments that will include cell culture, immunoblotting, radioisotope and cold isotope labeling of lipid metabolism, invasion and migration, RNA seq analysis, and animal studies including inoculation of cells, small animal imaging, and dietary modifications. QUALIFICATIONS:(MUST be realistic, neither overstated nor understated, and related to the essential functions of the job.) BA or BS in a related field. Nutrition knowledge and prior laboratory and data analysis experience are appreciated. Dedication, attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a highly collaborative and interactive environment. SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:(MUST be realistic, neither overstated nor understated, and related to the essential functions of the job.) -Excellent interpersonal skills. -Excellent oral and written communication skills. -Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks. -Familiarity with basic laboratory protocols -Ability to work with small animal research. -Careful attention to detail. -Self-directed learning and ability to work independently HOSPITAL WIDE RESPONSIBILITIES:These are required of all staff, regardless of position.
